RAC Statement of principles

Advertising self-regulation, established by the Romanian Advertising Council is a proactive industry response to the possibility that the Romanian state could initiate legislation on the matter. The advantage of self-regulation towards a legislative framework set by the authorities is to involve the experience of specialists connected to the advertising industry’s issues in the entire process of establishing and implementing rules.
   
In fulfilling its mission, Romanian Advertising Council shall be guided by certain principles:

  1. Advertising sector development in Romania through the creation and maintenance in the existing legal framework, of an ethical system of self-regulation fully functional and competent;
  2. Supporting commercial communication in the spirit of fair competition by promoting ethical rules in this respect;
  3. Ensuring advertising consumers and, in general, public’s protection against the negative effects of advertising by applying the provisions of the Code of Advertising Practice;
  4. Quick and accurate information on the advertising field by providing access to news and data from field;
  5. Align the Romanian advertising standards to high international standards by working with European and non-EU organizations, by participating in global, European or local meetings, and by drafting various documents that provide guidance for the industry;
  6. The values promoted by the Romanian Advertising Council are: honesty, fairness, decency, legality, evolution.
