Romanian Advertising Council (RAC) has elected on Wednesday, 17th of December, the persons who, for the next 4 years, will hold the mandates for President, Vicepresident and Treasurer.
As President of RAC's Board of Directors was elected Ecaterina Safarica, External Relations Director ar Procter and Gamble. Florentin Scarlat, Communications Manager for Unilever South Central Europe, was appointed Vicepresident, and Treasurer, Cristian Petriceanu, General Manager at NetBridge Investments.
Ecaterina Safarica stated that "being elected to lead RAC, for us, it was a great honour, and, obviously, a great responsability. This, especially now when advertising, and broadly, commercial communication, are reinventing themselves and selfregulation is becoming more and more present both at an european level and localy. The next year is going to be the same when it comes to the rigourous performance of RAC'S Ethic Committee and the organization's extension but also it will be the moment of launching important programes such as education in the field of selfregulation and copy advice".
The new RAC Board of Directors was mandated to implement RAC's startegy for development of selfregulation in advertising. The strategy was approved at the member's General Assembly held on 8th of December 2008. The activity programe includes the consistent application of the principles established by the Code of Advertising Practice, intensifying awarnesson selfregulation, extension of the organization and attracting new members, as well as launching programs to educate advertising specialists.

The Romanian Advertising Council (RAC) is a professional, non-guvernamental, non-profit and independent organization whose main activity is self-regulation in advertising. RAC was founded in 1999. Now it has 48 members: companies using advertising to promote thier products, advertising agencies, media and organizations related to the advertising industry.
RAC's activity is based on the Code of Advertising Practice elaborated by its members. RAC's Code comes from the International Advertising Practice Code and is a set of ethical rules to be followed by all involved in advertising related activities or any other forms of commercial communication. The purpose of the document is to support the development of a decent and honest business environment in Romania by offering a guide to form and content for a correct , honest and decent information of the consumer and industry.
RAC is a member of European Advertising Standards Alliance EASA.
